KMR BUYS AUDIOTRONICS PRODUCT PARTS
AudioTronics Corporation has as its main focus the development and sales of new products. To assist in this focus KMR has purchased the parts procurement, distribution and service for all EXISTING ATC products. As KMR did with the purchase and support of Bell & Howell, KMR will continue to support the ATC dealer network for parts and service. ATC had already sold the phono products line to TELEX who then sold it to MPC. ATC was obligated to refer all phono parts calls to MPC. With the KMR purchase of previous ATC lines KMR will now restock and supply ATC phonograph parts along with the tape, overhead, and card reader parts, making the old ATC parts line fully available again.3M 66 OVERHEADS
After enjoying a 20 year run and production numbers in the millions, in 1997, 3M dropped all parts support for the Model 66/567 series projectors. For some years selected parts were NO LONGER AVAILABLE for this unit but customer demand has kept KMR busy re-making them. KMR now makes 26 parts for the 66. About the only things we don't make are the tub itself, the stage frame, post and rack. Parts available from KMR consist of switches, fresnel lenses, lamp houses, doors, stage glasses, clips, focus knobs and shafts to mention a few. This spring KMR started producing the nylon focus gear. Order it as 3M P/N 78- 8222-9238- 5. If your old reliable 3M needs some refurbishing give us a call. As the need arises we will add parts to this list.
PARTS IS PARTS
KMR is the source for hundreds of KODAK, B&H, DuKane & 3M parts that the manufacturers have discontinued. Because of this we get lots of miscellaneous calls for nuts, belts and washers. Often the call volume exceeds our ability to answer the calls personally. If you reach our voice mail recording you need not listen to all the options, which were designed to handle the majority of casual requests. You can, at anytime during the messages, key in 215 to go directly to Kathy's voice mail or 212 to go to Bob's voice mail. Just hit a 1 then and you don't even have to listen to our little message. This will give us the best opportunity serve you in the most efficient manner.
Sometimes a rash of calls come in when we're talkin' to you. To help everybody get the best service please have your account number or code ready when you call us. And just where is that pesky thing hiding? Well, on the packing slip it is on the Date line (under the City line) just past the time. Bet you didn't even know your packer was time stamped. Now should you be lucky enough to have an invoice in front of you then just check out that little row of boxes and one is labeled CODE and there it is. Why do we want this so badly? Believe it or not the KMR computer is just brimming with info about your account and that let's us access all this stuff right away. Really it is the software but we wanted you to think that KMR is just like Big Blue and we have a brain. Give us all those part numbers first and then confess to the ones that you don't have numbers for. Actually we were hopin' that you had faxed us those questions so it was a done deal. Just FAX us at (714)668- 9866 to go ahead with the order and remember to give us the quote number which was on our fax. If strangers, ie the purchasing department, have to make the order give them a little help and make sure they have the manufacturer's name to go with the part number.
As the AV marketplace changes KMR keeps working to make sure parts are available for those reliable workhorses you have in the districts and universities and out in the big world. If you have any concerns regarding parts that have been noted NO LONGER AVAILABLE in the past please let us know. With so many changes taking place in the KMR parts base please check any parts that were on your wish list and we may have told your KMR didn't have them. Miracles do happen. As you can see from the service bulletin KMR continues to address the most pressing as fast as we can. We appreciate any input you can give us and if you have a service fix to share then give us a call, fax or E-mail. KMR wants to thank you for your past business and we will do everything to continue providing your parts and AV service needs.
KODAK UNIVERSAL MOTOR
A universal replacement motor for the Kodak Carousel projectors models 600 to 900, AF1-3, and the models B as well as E has just started to ship from KMR Electronics. To accommodate this range of projector models KMR developed a high torque one inch frame motor with enough windings to power most designs.
It has been 3 years since Kodak stopped shipping motors for these projectors and we know some of you have been waiting for a long time but it was worth the wait. Our new motor is modular construction and the bearings can be replaced without trashing the entire motor unit. We have designed two motor pulleys to accommodate both lamps. Just pick the one you need and install it on the motor shaft with set screws.
To allow for the varying stack sizes of the original motors you can position the pulley on the shaft for proper belt operation. Motor overwinds include a 6 volt tap for the auto focus lamp, a 24 volt tap for the solenoid and remote focus motor and a 28 volt tap for the auto focus electronics. A second winding is provided for photo cell bias used in the auto focus models.
Best of all this motor is $58.00 list price making it less than most of the Kodak versions, when they were available. The part number to order this replacement motor is KMR 63-100 and it comes with a full instruction sheet. Remember KMR presently has available the links, rivets, power cords, lamp sockets and the series of lenses to keep your Kodak Carousels performing like "Old Faithful." We are still adding to our list of Kodak parts. If there is something you would like us to take a look at making let us know.
ATC CASSETTE RECORDER KEYS
KMR now has keys in stock for the AudioTronics 260 series cassette recorders. We know this has been a major problem for some time. The problem was compounded when ATC's vendor updated the tooling for present production 260 series but the revamp failed to take into account that the NEW IMPROVED keys would not work in the already existing recorders. We had been working with ATC for some time to solve this problem and with our purchase of ATC replacement parts cassette keys are no longer a problem.
INFOCOMM -- 1997 LOS ANGELES
This year those of us on the West Coast will have a chance to turn the knobs and press the buttons of the latest Audio-Visual whiz bangs. It's more than just a collection of computers and video walls. See for yourself at the Los Angeles Convention Center June 5 through the 7th. If you can get out of the office for even a day go kick the tires at the major audio-visual players' displays. Hopefully your districts look for your input as to durability and ease of service when making a major audio- visual buy. If they don't, go anyway and give them some feedback. Remember those problems end up in your department. If you are interested in this show then you can contact INFOCOMM direct at (800)222-6884 and ask them to send you show information. If you would like free passes for the exhibit area contact those dealers that are getting your districts BIG BUCKS for new equipment. Some dealers are allotted FREEBIES for the show.
"parts@kmr.com"
With the big hype going on over the Internet KMR is scooting along the Information Highway and has its own E-mail address. Some customers find this easier than the FAX machine for requesting parts info, pricing and placing orders since they have computers at their repair sites but not always FAX machines. E- mail is not for everyone but if you can FAX or E-mail questions or orders, especially when you don't have the part numbers it lets us use the phone time for problems that are just easier when you can talk to someone. You can E-mail directly to any of the staff by addressing "firstname@kmr.com" and it will get routed directly to them. Everyone tries to handle the parts or service questions but if you need someone specific then you can address them directly or just use parts@kmr.com and we will be ahead of the curve on the Informations Super Highway!
WE STILL FIX STUFF
KMR Electronics started over 25 years ago as a service company. As time went by KMR ended up with the largest stock of A/V parts in the country and continually got requests for Replacement Parts. Currently we supply parts in large volume but we still maintain a service department and technical staff. If your service department is closed or considering it or you don't have the technical staff to cope with certain types of equipment perhaps we can help. Many dealers, schools and end users ship their repairs to us for service. If you have a service need give us a call and we can give you a ballpark number for most types of equipment. We repair 16mm sound projectors, 35mm slide and film strip projectors, card readers (Language Masters), record players, reel to reel and cassette recorders and cassette duplicators.
A/V PLANNER
We started distribution of the 96/97 KMR 18 month AV PLANNER in July 96. We have been putting them in boxes with your parts shipments. If you got a planner with this service bulletin it means we have not heard from you in some time. If you need additional planners for people in your department let us know on your next FAX and we will ship it with your next order.
