PARTS IS PARTS
And you thought New Year's came but once a year. This year the KMR Service Bulletin and our ever popular calendar are coming out at the half yearly mark. Not without good reason. Yes, this is the nineties....remember our letter, "EIKI buys B&H", of five years ago? Well, this year it reads...."KMR buys B&H 16 mm Parts!!" We are very excited about the buy and we promise to still give you the same personal service that we always have. At any time please bring to our attention any suggestion or problems you are experiencing.
And about "just the FAX M'am--" be sure we have your FAX number on file. Ours is 714-668-9866. P.O.'s are easily sent this way and besides its cheaper than good Ol' Uncle Sam's mail or Ma Bell's ding-dong machine. Just a quarter for the FAX. Where else can you get such a deal? Besides it saves my fingers for the really important stuff like lickin' and stickin' your parts orders. As ED and ?* of Bartels and Jaymes fame would say "we thank you for your support."
First one to name Ed's speaking friend receives 10 projector belts, soon as we find out ourselves that smooth talking man's name.

KMR BUYS B&H 16MM+
When some of you have called me and discussed your concerns about B&H projector parts that were NO LONGER AVAILABLE, we told you to be patient and wait a little while. This was with good reason. KMR has just purchased the entire B&H 16mm spare parts supply from EIKI International. This spare parts supply is extensive. As many of you are aware some of the vital parts are no longer in that stock. Not to worry!
Along with the spare parts inventory we have purchased the drawings, all tooling and the rights to replicate parts. All of the parts shortage problems will not be solved overnight but we have already begun to address the problems. The following is a list of the hot button items of which KMR is currently aware--arm castings for both front and rear arms of the 16mm 1500 series machines, various power switches and clutch assemblies. Your wish list also includes advance knobs, heat filters, power switches and lamp sockets for 745 filmstrip projectors. And most requested parts for the 1568 arc projector are the blower motor and main power switch. If you are aware of other items that you have been told are no longer available and you need those items please advise KMR. We have already begun to seek sources for the above mentioned missing parts. As we mentioned in our July 1986 letter "EIKI buys B&H audio visual division" which we sent to customers KMR stated we were going to continue to support the 16mm B&H products for the next 10 years. This purchase of inventory assures us of the ability to keep that commitment.
At the present time no changes will be made to the 18 month old current price list published by EIKI/B&H. As parts are replaced from our parts vendors the prices will be changed to reflect the costs. This does not always mean the prices will go higher. As a matter of fact I presently have a list of over 40 part numbers which will have their prices lowered. I am aware of the tight budget restraints under which most of our customers have to operate their shops.
TECH TALK
With each issue of the KMR Service Bulletin we have attempted to discuss areas of technical concern. In past bulletins we have discussed lamp problems in detail. I am hesitant to bring up the subject again except to say if you are using an ARC lamp type projector and experiencing short lamp life, there have been some production problems with the GEMINI lamp. Call KMR for the details.
If you have not received the previous 3 issues of the service bulletin and wish them for your files let me know. We are currently re-issuing a compressed version with only technical and substitute information.
GOOD IDEAS
And speaking of good ideas, if you have any helpful service hints or other information you would be willing to pass on to others let us know. Our thanks to Carl Smith at Long Beach Unified and Tim Beer with the San Diego Community College district for their past contributions. I know they are not the only ones out there with valuable service hints and suggestions so let's hear from the rest of you and we will gladly add it to the service bulletin. In the same regard if you find anything in this bulletin useful for distribution please do so with appropriate credit.

We still have a few cases (24 to the case) of these lamps and need the space for some of the B&H projector parts. So again $6.00 each, minimum 5 lamps. Prepay the order for your church or youth group and we will pay the shipping.
91/92 CALENDAR
With this issue comes the latest version of the "18 Month Audio/Visual Planner. We have changed the cover stock to provide longer service under adverse conditions. We have also included a Weights and Measures table. For those of you that are lucky enough to escape the shop from time to time some handy 800 numbers for Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The next version will include a decimal and millimeter equivalent table. We are listening, if you can think of something which you would find handy in this spot, please let us know.
SPEED UP SHIPMENTS
For the past 18 months we have been in the process of installing a new computer system. This system will replace the one we have had on line since 1982 which replaced the 1978 system. All of this is not without a lot of pain and strain. The end result should be well worth the effort. The benefit direct to you will be instant stock check and same day shipment of "in stock parts." To help expedite the orders please use the manufacturers part numbers when you call. Although we can still look up the part numbers for most AV items it takes time and slows down your order.
